An Australian Skeptic National Convention attendee who flew to Melbourne via Jet star was so incensed by an advertisement in their in-flight magazine that he ripped it out and brought it along.
Claims included, “Through modern science, researchers have developed a patented technology exclusive to Scala called Active BioCrystals(TM), which emit a type of energy called Far Infra-Red Rays (FIRRs). These FIRRs have been clinically proven to kick-start what is known as the BioPromise Effect, which leads to a dramatic improvement in the appearance of your silhouette and skin while getting rid of those embarrassing lumps and bumps.”
A nice example of what appeared to be misleading pseudo-scientific waffle which resulted in yet another complaint to the overloaded, under-resourced and largely impotent Therapeutic Goods Advertising Complaint Resolution Panel.
