On Monday, April 29, 2013 I’m appearing before a Senate committee to give evidence about this bill put up by Greens Senator Richard Di Natale.
The committee is looking at the need for regulation of pharmaceutical industry conduct with regards to interactions with the medical profession and the appropriateness of the provisions in the bill that place restrictions on these interactions.
The “The Global Mail” has provided a timely analysis of Big Pharma’s spending on “educational meetings” to Australian health professionals, “A Million Dollars A Week“. See also, “U.S. sues Novartis over kickbacks“.
Meanwhile, the Australian government and/or DoHA still believe in industry self-regulation (and presumably fairies in the bottom of the garden as well).
