More complaints to TGA about illegal body building and weight loss supplements

The TGA recently had a $10 million fine awarded by the Federal Court against Peptide Clinics Pty Ltd for breaches of advertising regulations, including advertising prescription-only medicines to the public. However, the company involved had gone into liquidation some months earlier and will not pay. In its media release the TGA said,

Please report non-compliant advertisements to the TGA, such as those promoting unapproved therapeutic goods that claim to be image enhancing. The TGA will investigate and take action.

Indeed, similar complaints have been submitted some time ago, but still lack a published outcome. For example, Evolution Supplements King Kong stack

More recently, complaints have been submitted about Muscle Peptides Australia and Peptides Direct Australia & NZ (some products promoted below).

So, there is plenty of examples to exercise the TGA’s new compliance and enforcement powers. Hopefully, before more companies go into liquidation!

I have had a look and what you have published is incorrect as & I cannot see anywhere the effects of these products are being prompted or advertised. And the screenshot you have published is from obtaining a login.

I have viewed many of your complaints, and many seem obsessive and over the top!

I would like to know more about your background and how you and this website are funded.

Australia could lead the world in medical innovation but sadly as i stated before we are lagging in the 1960’s because of those such as yourself who i view as to Old, Too Stale and Too Male!

We should be promoting innovation & research! But instead those such as yourself are focused on over scheduling drugs which then makes any type of research impossible!

I suffer from major depression and have attempted suicide a few times! Paracetamol being one! But sadly i allowed myself to be subjected to outdated treatments – ECT & very addictive ssri’s

Instead of fixing the problem, big pharma will give me drugs to manage it which side affects are starting to cause other health issues such as nafld.

It’s because of those like yourself i am unable to try a treatment which give me hope, as it may give me some quality of life back, even if its for a short period of time – ketamine!

But people like yourself would rather see me managed, with no life or prospects!, rather then try something which may work and at the least spark something which gets me going again!

i cannot go on living life like this!

Web sites change, especially after complaints have been made. The screen shots taken when the sites were live are detailed in my published complaints, see: https://www.medreach.com.au/submitting-complaints-to-the-tga/. The outcome of these complaints acn also be followed by using the complaint number on the TGA complaint outcomes site.

You said: ‘I would like to know more about your background and how you and this website are funded’.

My background can be found at: https://www.medreach.com.au/about/ The web site is self-funded and I receive no remuneration from any therapeutic goods company.

      I agree.

You said: ‘But instead those such as yourself are focused on over scheduling drugs which then makes any type of research impossible!’

Not true, I only complain about products that make claims that lack scientific evidence &/or breach the rules and regulations.

You said: It’s because of those like yourself i am unable to try a treatment which give me hope, as it may give me some quality of life back, even if its for a short period of time – ketamine!

Not true! I have made no submissions (or complaints) about Ketamine; I recognise this drug has promise but it needs appropriate scientific trials before general access.

Finally, I do sympathise with your situation and trust you have found a sympathetic and caring GP.

      Ken Harvey
